Following the success of the Italian Film Festival at the end of 2020, the Consulate General of Italy and partner COLAB Vietnam are pleased to continue to organize the series of events Italian Film Festival 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City, starting from October 10 to 16, 2022. In collaboration with the “Asian Film Festival” in Rome and to promote cooperation and cultural exchange between Italy and Vietnam, a series of events are organized to raise awareness about Italian cinema and its cultural characteristics.
Italian cinema has long been considered to be the birthplace of many outstanding films. The grandeur of the movie is always based on the unique cultural characteristics of Italy: history, architecture, people, life, and so on. The films’ distinctive storytelling techniques were influenced by Western Europe and produced a unique Italian filmmaking trend that influenced generations.
Vietnamese viewers will be able to admire and take pleasure in cinematic works at the 2022 Italian Film Festival that speak to topics that affect both contemporary Italian society and daily life: love, family life, social conflicts, and relationships in particular circumstances. This event promises to establish a link between real life and art, as well as between film and culture, architecture, fashion and Italian.
Seven films will be screened at the 2022 Italian Film Festival, including: Everything’s Gonna Be Alright, The Great Silent, Doctor on Call, Breaking up in Rome, The Returned Girl, The Inner Cage, and The King of Laugh.
In addition to the appearance of the Italian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Sr. Padula Enrico, on the Opening Night, the Italian Film Festival also welcomed the participation of journalist/writer/film critic Le Hong Lam – with 20 years of experience in journalism, his vision of journalism and extensive knowledge of cinema have formed in him a sharp judgmental approach. Additionally, he is the author of several film rights, including “101 Best Vietnamese Films” and “The Lover Without Portrait.” In addition, Antonio Termenini, the director of the Asian Film Festival in Rome, is seen to have been an interesting presence to the event. He is a factor in building the success of Asian Film Festivals around the world.
