FAREWELL CALL TO THE DG OF EXTERNAL RELATIONS DEPARTMENT AND UPCOMING VACCINATION OF THE ITALIAN COMMUNITY IN HCMC.

HCMC, July 23, 2021 – In a farewell meeting with HCMC People’s Committee Director General of External Relations, Mr. Tran Phuoc Anh, Consul General Dante Brandi expressed his gratitude for all the support he received during his tenure in Ho Chi Minh City.

The always timely, effective and appreciated collaboration of the Department of Foreign Affairs has made it possible to further develop the relations between Italy and this vibrant city, which is currently in a difficult moment of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, Director Phuoc Anh and Consul General Brandi shared the importance of a close international collaboration to overcome the health emergency. One of the most effective tools to this purpose is the multilateral COVAX program, to which Italy contributes US $ 470 million (almost 5 percent of the total amount). COVAX has been so far the most effective source of vaccines for Vietnam, with 9 million doses delivered already.

During the meeting it has also been reaffirmed the commitment of Ho Chi Minh City authorities to quickly proceed with the vaccination of foreign residents, including Italian nationals, as a priority of the Vietnamese national vaccination plan.
