HCMC – 22nd December 2020 – The conditions to nurture quality design, the sources of inspiration for creative designers, the dynamic between a brand and a designer, the paths of Italy and Vietnam towards the affirmation of a national industrial design industry, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the design industry. These were among the stimulating topics arisen during Design: Reconnecting, a design talk in the framework of the Italy’s Culture Days in Saigon 2020 on December 22 held both in presence at the residence of the Consul General of Italy in HCMC and in VTC from Milan. Toan Nguyen, award-winning designer based in Milan, Darren Chew, founder of Vietnamese luxury furniture brand District Eight, Duong Nguyen, managing editor of Elle Decoration Vietnam and Roberto Archetti, brand manager of District Eight were the protagonists of a captivating conversation, moderated by Consul General Dante Brandi, on the dynamics between brands and design, and the way in which design has evolved in the context of current challenges.
After the Italian Design Day and the events related to Cultural Heritage and Economic Development in ASEAN, Italy, as an industrial-design powerhouse and host of the most important international design exhibitions (Salone del Mobile, Milan Fashion Week, VicenzaOro and many others) and the Italian institutions in Vietnam confirm their commitment in pushing the envelope of Vietnamese quality design with another stimulating event involving local and international practitioners and stakeholders.
