UNIT WINE TOUR – Interview to Consul General Dante Brandi on the diffusion of Italian wine, on the eve of the mission of 32 Italian producers in Vietnam (by Agnese Ceschi – WineMeridian)

HCMC – On the eve of the mission to Vietnam of 32 Italian producers, led by Unexpected Italian and the Italian Trade Agency, the Consul General of Italy in HCMC Dante Brandi has been interviewed by Agnese Ceschi, of Wine Meridian magazine, on the perspectives of the Italian wine in this country.

In a general situation of decreasing wine imports to Vietnam, Italy stands in countertrend, with an constant increase of wine export to Vietnam over the last five years, with peaks of 50% y-o-y. The so-called “Sistema Italia”, the network of Italian institutions in Vietnam (Embassy in Hanoi, Consulate General in HCMC, Italian Trade Agency, Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam) provides consistent support to the overall strategy of promoting Italian wines into the Vietnamese market, mainly through the effective coordination between producers and distributors, in sectors like HORECA and, in the future, also the GDO. The culture of wine is encouragingly growing in Vietnam, also thanks to the establishment of organizations such as the SSA – Saigon Sommeliers Association, in charge of providing professional support and training to the wine&hospitality industries.
