From 13 to 19 October 2025, the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City celebrates the 25th Week of the Italian Language in the World, dedicated to the theme “Italophonia: The Italian Language Beyond Borders.”
The Week is held under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic and features a rich program of cultural and academic events exploring the Italian language as a bridge between peoples, arts, and knowledge, with the participation of universities, local institutions, and Vietnamese students.

13 October – Consulate General of Italy, HCMC
Opening ceremony with Consul General Alessandra Tognonato, followed by the screening of the short film series “Translating Italy: Cinema on the Move”, curated by Prof. Hanh Nguyen, Prof. Cinzia Grieco, and Italian Studies students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH).
14 October – Quang San Museum
Art dialogue “Art that Unites: Visions and Cultures in Conversation”, featuring Vietnamese lecturers and students.
15–18 October – USSH, Thu Duc Campus
Series of thematic workshops and laboratories:
• 15 October – Kneading Words and Flavors: Italian in the Kitchen
• 16 October – Literature and Journalism: Terzani and Busi on Vietnam, with Dario Busi and Italian Studies students
• 17 October – Intercultural Communication: Italian Words and Signs Abroad, with Prof. Simone Casini
• 18 October – Photo Exhibition “Italian in the Air: Traces of Language in Vietnamese Life”, featuring contributions from students
18 October – Duy Tan University, Da Nang
Italian Days on Higher Education, the annual fair dedicated to Italian universities’ study programs.
19 October – USSH, Central Campus
Italian Days on Higher Education and closing ceremony with Consul General Alessandra Tognonato.
The Week of the Italian Language in the World offers a unique opportunity to promote the diffusion of our language and its role in fostering cultural, artistic, and academic ties.
The 2025 edition in Ho Chi Minh City reaffirms the commitment of the Consulate General of Italy and its Vietnamese partners to promoting intercultural dialogue and strengthening the bonds between the Italian and Vietnamese communities.
