15TH SEPTEMBER 2018: CONFERENCE ON THE HO CHI MINH CITY`S SMART CITY INITIATIVE

HCMC – 15TH SEPTEMBER 2018. The effort of the highest authorities of Ho Chi Minh City to develop the smart City Initiative continues unabated, which aims to turn the city into a Smart city by 2025. Saturday 15th September took place the third conference of the last semester, after the first meeting happened the 28th of March addressed to the consular corps and officiated by the Chairman of People’s Committee of HCMC, Nguyễn Thành Phong, and after the international seminar occurred on the 28th of July that was patronized by the Secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyễn Thiện Nhân. The intent of this project is to combine Districts 2, District 9 and Thu Duc District into a highly interactive innovation District.

The third Conference, in which also participates the General Consul Dante Brandi, sketched in detail strategies, goals and benefits that this plan wants to achieve. The strategy adopted by Smart City initiative is to identify the right partners for implementing vision to set a standard for public services, specify policies for public/private partnerships, foster start-ups and enhance international cooperation. This strategy confirms the adoption of an open dialogue approach to the private sector, the academy and other stakeholders.

This kind of dialogue is imposed by the challenges caused by the unbridled economic growth toward a digital economy, the enhance urban management efficiency and the increase citizen participation on a political and social level.

In addition, the direct benefits that this project will generate to the citizens of HCMC will be the improvement of the public transportation system, of healthcare, of food safety, of environment, of flood prevention and of security sector.

The first step will be set up through the creation of a data center able to collect and elaborate data about the many parameters.
