The 73rd anniversary of the Italian Republic was celebrated by the Consulate General of Italy in HCMC on June 3rd in HCMC and on June 4th in Danang.
The two receptions, arranged with a twist of Italian conviviality and lifestyle, were open to local authorities, fellow Italians permanently or temporarily resident in Vietnam, the Consular Corp, and representatives from the Vietnamese economic, cultural, academic field from South and Central Vietnam.
In Saigon, where the celebration was attended by more than 400 guests, the ceremony was enriched by the photo exhibition “Italy. Twilight Skylines From Police Helicopters” by renowned Italian photographer Massimo Sestini, and a bestowal of the distinction of Knight of the Order of the Star Of Italy- the first ever granted in the history of the Consulate General of Italy in HCMC.
Seventeen backlit photos of Italian landscapes, shot an hour before the sunrise and an hour after the sunset, were showcased at the Reverie Saigon Hotel, where the reception took place and where the exhibition will be displayed until the end of June. Consul General Dante Brandi has also granted the distinction of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy to our fellow Italian Mr. Carlo Anzon, who has acted as a real point of reference for the Italian community in South Vietnam for decades, and has served as former Honorary Consul in HCMC. Mr Anzon has been granted the prestigious recognition for his merits in consolidating the friendly ties between Italy and Vietnam.
Similarly, the ceremony in Danang, attended by almost 60 guests, was even more meaningful, because of the bestowal of the same distinction of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy to Mrs. Mai Thi Thai Pham, former CEO of Mapei Vietnam, successful manager and active part in the intensifying of Italy-Vietnam economic, cultural and social relations.
