A NEW BOOST TO THE COOPERATION WITH DANANG CITY (CENTRAL VIETNAM) AFTER THE EXTENDED LOCKDOWN.

Danang, October 9th, 2020 – A new boost for the cooperation between Italy and Danang City has been agreed during the visit of Consul General Dante Brandi last 8-9 October, with the city leadership and authorities. The sectors involved go from tourism-hospitality to flight connections to Europe, including the nautical one. Danang is the second largest city of the consular jurisdiction and one of the largest and most dynamic city of the all Vietnam. The city experienced the longest lockdown and isolation in Vietnam, from July 27th to September 7th decided by the local authorities as a consequence of the summer break-out of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Consul General Dante Brandi visited the local Tien Sa Port, where he met the relevant authorities, in order to prepare an important ship visit from Italy already schedule for June 2021. Accompanied by ENI Vietnam executives, he also met with the Deputy Chairman of the local People’s Committee, Ho Ky Minh. During the meeting, it has been possible to showcase the promising developments of ENI activities in oil&gas, offshore Danang coasts. It has also been discussed the idea of potential twinning agreements with Italian counterpart cities, which can have similar characteristics to Danang in terms of tourism attraction, port and logistic infrastructures, nautical expertise. With Deputy Chairman Ho Ky Minh, Consul General Brandi shared also the confidence of a quick resumption, as soon as the restrictions to mobility will be lifted in Vietnam, of the direct connections between Danang and Europe (provided weekly, before the pandemic, by Qatar Airways) and of the re-opening of the VFS-Global visa centre, where applications for Italy entry visa were collected from all the Central Vietnam.

During the visit, Consul General Dante Brandi also met with the Italian community in Danang. It has been a fruitful occasion to share the strategic plans to boost the Italian presence in Vietnam, shared by the all members of the Italian institutional system in the country (Embassy, Consulate General, Italian Trade Agency, Italian Chamber of Commerce), especially in the most important sectors of economic relationship between Italy and Central Vietnam (tourism, hospitality, manufacturing).
