On the occasion of the XX Week of the Italian Language in the World (October 19 – 25), the Consulate General of Italy celebrates the work of Gianni Rodari, the greatest Italian children’s author, on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Gianni Rodari (3 October 1920 – 14 April 1980) was an Italian writer and journalist, most famous for his works of children’s literature. For his lasting contribution in children’s literature he received the biennial Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1970, and his books have been translated into many languages, including Vietnamese. There are many reasons to remember his work: the importance of children in literature and in life, the importance of reading books, and the importance of fantasy and imagination in everyone’s life.
On Monday 19 October, the Departments of Italian Linguistic and Literature of USSH will host a talk with the students led by Sara Mulargia, teacher of Italian language specialised in teaching children. The teacher will present the author and his extraordinary work, and finally will invite the students to take part in interactive games.
