HCMC, May 20, 2021 –<\/strong> The great Italian mountaineering tradition as a mean to understand the mountain habitat, as a way to embrace environmental awareness and as a confirmation of Italy\u2019s commitment to the preservation of ecosystems in the year of COP26 co-presidency.<\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cItalian Routes. Mountains, mountaineering, climate change “, a project by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation curated by photographer Fabiano Ventura in cooperation with the not-for-profit association Macromicro, inaugurates in Vietnam at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, where it will be exhibited until June 12. It will then move to the National Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi, from June 25 to July 25.<\/p>\n

The Embassy of Italy in Hanoi and the Consulate General of Italy in HCMC brought the exhibition to Vietnam accompanying it with a parallel exhibition project: “Landscapes of Vietnam – Ecological diversity, new climate pattern, new discovery”, with artworks by three prominent local photographers -Hoang The Nhiem, Hoang Giang Hai and Tran Dang Dang Khoa- in order to create an ideal complementarity in the narration of Italian and Vietnamese mountain landscapes.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will include side events such as guided tours by the mountaineering association ROPE Team VN, a workshop on photography by Hoang The Nhiem, and a scientific seminar on the effects of climate change from glaciers to river deltas, with interventions by Italians and Vietnamese researchers.<\/p>\n

In the words of Ambassador Antonio Alessandro, “The debut of the exhibition\u2019s international circuit in Vietnam is a tribute to the effective cooperation we enjoy with this country on global issues such as climate change”, while Consul General Dante Brandi stressed the coincidence of the exhibition with the Italian National Day (June 2nd) as a way to \u201cprovide visitors with a sense of Italy\u2019s commitment to raise international awareness on environmental issues, even through the arts”.<\/p>\n
