A Tourist Visa is required for individuals planning to travel to Italy for tourism purposes for a stay not exceeding 90 days.
Required documents:
- A completed and signed Visa Application Form.
- One (1) recent ICAO-standard passport-sized photograph (3.5×4.0cm), not digitally altered. Affix one (1) photo to the application form.
- A Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the expiry date of Schengen visa or the intended departure date from the Schengen area and that it was issued less than 10 years ago. The passport must have at least two consecutive blank pages for the visa and stamps.
- Certificate of stable residency in Vietnam (for non-Vietnamese citizens).
- Return flight booking or ticket.
- Proof of accommodation in Italy: tourist vouchers, hotel reservations or bookings.
- Proof of financial means of Support: personal bank account statements from the last three (3) months. Note that bank savings accounts are not acceptable for demonstrating personal income.
- Documents proving socio-professional status:

- Employment contract and leave permit.
- For business owner or shareholders: proof of tax payments for the last three (3) months and a copy of business license. The business license should be authorized and legalized by the Consular Department (40 Tran Phu, Ba Đinh, Ha Noi) or HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs (184 Bis Pasteur Street, District 1, HCMC) or local Department of Foreign Affairs.
- For retirees: retirement statement and pension allowance.
- Health insurance covering at least €30,000 for emergency medical expenses and repatriation.
- A copy of the passport’s identification page (second page), along with any pages containing Schengen or Italian visa stamps.
- Additional Supporting Documents: Applicants may submit any further documentation as needed or requested by the Visa Office.
Additional requirements for Minors:
If the visa application is for a minor, the following additional documents are required:
- Birth certificate: authorized and legalized the Consular Department (40 Tran Phu, Ba Đinh, Ha Noi) or HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs (184 Bis Pasteur Street, District 1, HCMC) or local Department of Foreign Affairs.
- Parental consent: If the minor is traveling with one parent or a third party, parental consent must be signed at the Consular Office. For further information or to schedule a meeting with the Consular Office, please contact consolato@esteri.it.
TOURIST VISA – VISITING FAMILY/FRIENDS (“C” type)
This visa is required for individuals planning to travel to Italy to visit family and/or friends, for a stay not exceeding 90 days.

- Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation in Italy [Form] and a copy of the inviting person’s ID.
