The SCHENGEN VISA (“VSU”) allows travel within the Schengen area (Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland) and can be issued for a maximum of 90 days. The NATIONAL VISA (“VN”) allows entry and stay exclusively within Italy for up to 365 days. National visas (type “D”) can be issued for purposes: adoption, study, family reunification, religious activities, medical treatment, self-employment, employment, job recruitment, diplomatic assignments, diplomatic, missions, domicile of choice, re-entry, working holidays (all “D” types).
Visa Authority: Kindly verify that the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, rather than the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi, is the correct office for submitting your visa application. The Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City is responsible for processing visa applications from individuals (both Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese) who are permanent residents of the following 22 Vietnamese provinces/cities: Thừa Thiên-Huế, Đà Nẵng, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Bình Định, Phú Yên, Khánh Hòa, Ninh Thuận, Bình Thuận, Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, Hồ Chí Minh, Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, Long An, Tiền Giang, Cần Thơ, Vĩnh Long, Bến Tre, Hậu Giang, Trà Vinh, Bạc Liêu, Cà Mau.

Additionally, the photo on the passport must reflect your current appearance, and photos submitted for the visa application should not be digitally altered.
Visa Application and Processing Time: please be advised that a visa application may not be submitted more than six (6) months prior to your intended visit.
