Consul General Alessandra Tognonato opened the 10th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World at Mega Market An Phú, celebrating Italy’s culinary heritage and its growing connection with Vietnam.
“Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is a great pleasure to open today, here at Mega Market An Phú, the first of our events marking in Ho Chi Minh City the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World — our global celebration of Italy’s culinary heritage and its dialogue with cultures across the globe.
For ten years, this initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has showcased Italian gastronomy as a symbol of quality, health, and innovation — values that go far beyond the kitchen. Italian cuisine is an expression of culture, creativity, and care: a way of life that celebrates beauty, simplicity, and respect for nature and people.
This spirit finds deep resonance in Vietnam, where food also brings people together — family, friends, and communities — in the joy of sharing.
Here at Mega Market, we celebrate not only Italian products — from pasta to olive oil, from cheese to wine — but also the partnership that allows Vietnamese families to experience authentic Italian taste. The recent collaboration between the Italian Trade Agency and Mega Market represents a new step in making high-quality Italian products more accessible throughout Vietnam.
I wish to thank Mega Market Vietnam, the Italian Trade Agency, and all the Italian companies and chefs — including Chef Federico Pinzi and Chef Steven — for bringing to life the creativity and passion that define our cuisine.
May this week inspire us to rediscover the joy of sharing and to strengthen — through the universal language of good food — the enduring friendship between Italy and Vietnam.”
