The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM) recently published an interview with the Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, Alessandra Tognonato, who shared her vision and priorities for strengthening the economic, cultural, and institutional relations between Italy and Vietnam.
In the interview, the Consul General highlighted the energy and dynamism of southern Vietnam, emphasizing the great potential for cooperation in sectors of Italian excellence — infrastructure, mechanics, renewable energy, agri-food, design, and Industry 4.0 — in line with Vietnam’s goal of becoming a regional hub for innovation and high-value-added production.
Among the priorities of her mandate are:
-
Diplomacy for growth, to support exports and Italian companies in the Vietnamese market;
-
Promotion of mutual investment, especially in the fields of the green economy, agri-food, and tourism;
-
Enhancement of the Italian lifestyle as a vehicle of soft power and cultural dialogue.
The Consul General also acknowledged the crucial role of the Italian business community in Vietnam — dynamic and well integrated — as a pillar of the “Italy System” and a key partner in promoting innovation, ethics, and the quality of Made in Italy.
Finally, she reaffirmed the Consulate General’s commitment to working closely with ICHAM and all Italian institutional actors in Vietnam to strengthen Italy’s presence and contribute to the shared prosperity between Italy and Vietnam.
