Celebration of the 45th Anniversary of Vietnam–Italy Diplomatic Relations in Kien Giang province

22 JUNE 2018 – Kien Giang. Consul General of Italy in HCMC Dante Brandi and the Deputy Consul General Roberto Cajati attended a conference to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Vietnam – Italy Diplomatic Relations (1973-2018) in Rach Gia City, Kien Giang province.

Opened by Mr. Mai Anh Nhin, Provincial Party Member, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province, the conference marked the anniversary with the aim to promote an even closer cooperation between Italy and this particular area of Vietnam. In front of more than 100 people, from students to business representatives and authorities, Consul General Dante Brandi confirmed the importance of the strategic partnership between Italy and Vietnam, which include cooperation in sector of particular interest for the specific area of Kien Giang.

Tourism is already experiencing an increasing number of Italian national visiting the island of Phu Quoc, while a large number of local SMEs are consolidating their commercial ties with Italy in agribusiness. Infrastructures, food-processing, food-packaging, waste-management, water-treatment and nautical industry have been agreed to be sector with potential for an additional development in the bilateral relations.

The conference was also an occasion to present the Italian system of high-education and its framework of 68 public Universities, 11 private Universities and 3 Polytechnics among which some of the Italian universities, such as Bocconi Milan or Turin Polytechnics still rank at the top level in global universities ranking.
