GROWING INTEREST FOR THE ITALIAN STUDIES IN HO CHI MINH CITY

HCMC, May 2nd, 2018 – A growing interest for the study of the Italian language and culture from the young Vietnamese generations is the takeaway of a visit paid today by the Italian Consul General, Dante Brandi, to the Department of Italian Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Vietnam National University in Saigon. Chaired by the Vicepresident Prof. Pham Tan Ha, the meeting gathered teachers of Italian, including the two mother-tongues Italian nationals, Veronica Romeo and Andrea Tomei. In the four-years course, established in 2010, 50 students are admitted every academic year. A number representing the concrete evidence of the interest around the Italian studies, both for language and civilization, which the young Vietnamese generations associate to the world of arts, music (opera but also pop music), literature and modern lifestyle.
