ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF EUROCHAM VIETNAM

HCMC, March 25th, 2021 – In the two locations of Hanoi and HCMC, the Annual General Assembly of EuroCham, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, which gathers the business associations of European MS in Vietnam (including the Italian ICHAM) and individual European companies active in this market, was held in the afternoon of 25 March. In his opening speech, Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti, Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Vietnam, thanked EuroCham for the significant work carried out in favor of the successful conclusion of the free trade agreement between the EU and Vietnam (EVFTA) entered into force last August 1st and for the constant attention that EuroCham now pays to the implementation of the agreement, through participation in the EVFTA Council, a body that brings together representatives of European companies appointed by EuroCham and officials of relevant Vietnamese authorities. Similar gratitude was expressed, on behalf of the EU Member States, also for the role that EuroCham plays every day to improve the country’s business climate, through the active participation in consultative organism between the private sector and the Vietnamese authorities (such as the VBF – Vietnam Business Forum), and through the annual publication of a white paper which collects proposals for improving the business environment in several sectors of the local economy.

The Assembly, which was attended by the Consul General Dante Brandi, the Director of ICE-ITA Paolo Lemma, the Head of the Economic Office of the Italian Embassy Antonino Tedesco and whose Italian contribution was coordinated by the President of ICHAM Michele D’Ercole, greeted the outgoing President, Nicolas Audier, who leaves his post after seven years at the helm of the Chamber, and elected a new Executive Committee, which includes business leaders of three Italian companies active in the country: Piaggio, Intesa San Paolo and Perfetti Van Melle.
