VISIT OF EU HOMs TO HCMC AND AGENDA OF AMB. ALESSANDRO

HCMC, 29-30 October 2020 – Intense two-days visit to HCMC for the EU Heads of Missions in Vietnam, led by the Head of the EU Delegation in Hanoi, Amb. Giorgio Aliberti. A meeting with the President of the HCMC People’s Committee, Nguyen Thanh Phong, accompanied by the leaders of the main departments of the city, gave an opportunity to illustrate the urban developments of the country’s economic capital – especially in the future innovation district of Thu Duc- and to share the opportunities for intensification of economic relations between the EU and the HCMC, especially following the entry into force of the EVFTA. On the agenda of the EU Heads of Mission, also the annual appointment of the Eurocham-Vietnam (the European Chamber of Commerce) business awards to European companies distinguished for efficiency, sustainability and innovation, with the Italian Datalogic winner in the first category.

The side agenda of the Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro also included a meeting in the Consulate General with Italian entrepreneurs and professionals active in HCMC and Vietnam, and the inauguration of the exhibition on Vico Magistretti, founding father of modern Italian and global industrial design in the hundred years from his birth, at the Hoa Sen University, as part of the celebrations of the Italian Design Day in Vietnam 2020. The visit of Amb. Alessandro at Hoa Sen University gave also opportunity to discuss the main bilateral collaborations on university exchanges, film festivals and relations with academic institutions and Italian cultural institutions on art, design and cinematography.
