NUNC EST BIBENDUM. The success of Italian wine in the world outlined in HCMC by the world famous sommelier Giuseppe Vaccarini

Nunc est Bibendum: this is the title of the stimulating and enlightening conversation about the future of Italian wine, its penetration into the Vietnamese and global markets, industry trends and current customers’ tastes, by the Sommellier Giuseppe Vaccarini, President of the Italian Professional Sommelier Association, living legend of the Italian and international sommellerie.

The conversation was a fascinating journey on the success of Italian wine in the world, driven by the success of Italian gastronomy in the world, but with deep roots in the territory and characterized by an intense storytelling of excellence. From the wine landscapes declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO such as the Langhe - Roero and the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano - Valdobbiadene up to the 600 Italian DOC and DOCG native vines, Giuseppe Vaccarini confirmed the richness and variety of the Italian wine scene as an asset. "A variety that is a priceless treasure for Italy”, in his words, an authentic pride of our country that reached 6.2 billion euros in 2018 of export revenues, almost 20% of global export value in the sector.

Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City Dante Brandi moderated the conversation in front of a selected group of professionals, importers of the sector and Vietnamese and international media active on the local market. In conclusion, the conversation was enriched by a dinner-tasting of renowned Italian wines.

The event, organized in collaboration with ITA-ICE (Italian Trade Agency) and ELLE Decoration Vietnam as a media partner, was also an opportunity to lay the basis for a Vietnamese Sommelier Association recognized at international level thanks to the support of the Sommelier Association Italian Professionals (ASPI).
