VISIT OF AMB. ALESSANDRO IN HCMC (15-16 MARCH 2019)

A reaffirmed commitment to bring more Italy to HCMC and vice-versa, as well as to tighten the bilateral relations in economic and cultural sectors, has been the focus of the second visit to Sai Gon for the Italian Ambassador, Antonio Alessandro

Accompanied by Consul General Dante Brandi in an intense two-days program last 15-16 March, Amb. Alessandro had fruitful and cordial meetings with the Party Secretary of HCMC, Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, and the former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Truong Tan Sang.

A common understanding and commitment has been reaffirmed in both cases to strengthen the friendly relation between Italy and Vietnam, including HCMC as its dynamic core. This, in accordance with the Strategic Partnership between the two countries and in the overall perspective of an intensified relation between Vietnam and the EU as a whole, especially as soon as the EUVFTA will become operational.

Opportunities of further cooperation have been discussed in different sectors: from infrastructures to design&fashion, from support to local SMEs to tourism, from cultural initiatives to the further promotion of the Italian language.

Amb. Alessandro, along with C.G. Brandi and the representatives of the other components of “Sistema Italia” in Vietnam, namely Mr. Paolo Lemma, Director of the Italian Trade Agency, and Mr. Michele D’Ercole, Chairman of the Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICHAM), also attended the 30th anniversary celebration of BNP Paribas Vietnam bank. As a key player in the Italian banking system through its domestic subsidiary BNL – Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, BNP Paribas group is a crucial component to promote a further economic integration between Vietnam and Europe, including Italy.
